Kings Bridge Middle School awarded grant: Each year in the U.S., car crashes take the lives of more than 4,000 young people. To raise awareness of this critical issue, National Organizations for Youth Safety teamed up with The Allstate Foundation to award $1,000 to Kings Bridge Middle School FCCLA for excellence in bringing safe teen driving to the Athens area. Kings Bridge Middle School FCCLA joins 49 other youth organizations and communities across the nation, sharing $50,000 in grant funding. Kings Bridge Middle School FCCLA earned the award for its innovative campaign promoting safe teen driving.

AP Scholar Awards: The following graduates of Athens Christian School have earned 2010 AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their achievement on AP Exams: Tim Campodonico, Adam D'Alessandro, Ben Grisel, Andrew Herring, Kyle Holland, Colin Bishoff (Scholar with Honor), Ben Hill (Scholar with Honor), and Seth Horton (Scholar with Honor).
Updates on Athens Academy Fine Arts Students: Lorraine Thompson, Drama Department Chair for Athens Academy, keeps in touch with former students, many of whom are studying Fine Arts in college or have gone on to pursue careers in the Fine Arts field.
Jarrard Cole (Class of 2008) spent the summer working as a media intern/consultant with The Wall Street Journal Digital Network. During his internship with the online version of The WSJ, Cole worked both behind and in front of the camera. Some of the video features he was involved with include "Sun Chips: The Loudest Chip Bag Ever," "A Tycoon of Miniature Buildings," and "Odd Jobs: Mounted Police." Cole is the son of Geoffrey Cole and Mary Bess Jarrard of Athens and is currently attending The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
